@nullagent This is something I truly (and sincerely) don't understand.
In France there is absolutly no way for you to vote with no ID. Heck, adults are supposed to have their ID on them all the time, as cops are allowed to ask to see them.
And they do (well, it happens way more often if you aren't white apparently).
And it's not rare to have to prove your ID when you're in contact with some administration.
Many Americans vote by mail these days. We simply receive our ballots at the address on our IDs.
We have to sign a portion of the ballot, which our signatures are verified by humans against the signature on our IDs.
Ballot processing is all on a video live stream. the cover sheet is removed and separated from the ballot it self.
There's even in person viewing options in my county.
The changes Republicans are pushing for nationally is an attempt to end mail in voting.
