hello! this is the new official account for encrypted.whispers!
i am a boston-based electronic musician making music mostly on the m8 tracker.

I see in your profile you have a FunkWhale account. Just out of curiosity, why is that not useful for the purposes you set up the @encryptedwhispers Mastodon account for? Could an account on BandWagon be useful for those purposes?

If not, what features could the developers of @funkwhale and BandWagon (@benpate) add that would allow accounts on their software to be used for release and show announcements, so you wouldn't need a second account on a micro-posting service for that?
@strypey @funkwhale @benpate I like Funkwhale as a way to keep a catalogue (althought I find it a bit buggy and the interface is confusing), and Bandwagon also seems like a nice way to catalogue music, but there aren't social features that I can see other than I guess the ability for people to follow for notifications on releases. I want to be able to interact with people and post thoughts about my music, and also announce shows and things. To me it seems like these sites aren't really built for such activity. If there is an ability to post textual messages, it's not clear from the website as there are no messages anywhere.

I think they aspire to be, but either the features aren't built yet, or are buried.

You can post show dates and band updates in Bandwagon. A lot of people aren’t using those features yet, but they’re there.
I’d say, start a profile on bandwagon.fm and poke around (it’s easy and free). You can always move servers later.
And, we’re still adding stuff to Bandwagon, so let me know what you need and I can try to get that done too :)

do you use #musicbrainz events ? (for example fetching them or posting them). Do you have documentation about the activitypub object you use for events ?
Social feature are more present how the version 2 of Funkwhale 😊 (liking/favorite/playlist sharing/user following)
Hey, I don't do much with Musicbrainz. I think you can enter a Musicbrainz ID into an album or song, but that's about it. We don't publish to, or receive data from Musicbrainz.

I also need to do a better job of displaying likes and boosts. We collect them, but then that data doesn't really go anywhere :(
