Can't begin to state how pissed and stressed I am atm. We leave for vacation tomorrow. We booked through Expedia. Which includes adding in names and ages. It's booked through Delta. The flight is totally booked.

We never got to book our seats. It seemed we had to pick our seats at arrival to the airport or on getting on our flight. Just got an email, they put the four of us, mind you my wife, myself, and a 9 and 6 year old, all separate, in middle seats. I'll be damned with if I let my 9 and 6 year olds sit alone during their first flights ANYWHERE. And of course their support takes "on average" 37 minutes to respond. Wife opened a chat, and of course, nothing they can do, but they're certain that someone at the gate can help tomorrow.

I fucking hate travel. My father's response? "This is why I like driving". Yeah. 12 hours in a car is just dandy.

@ozoned bring nice snacks as a last defense, offer them to 2-3 people on the plane to swap with you so you can sit with your kids.

edit: buy them beyond the gate if you must! I am certain this will work. If it turns out unnecessary, you all get to have some great snacks on the plane.

I'm sorry this is happening to you, but Delta does have a class of tickets where you don't choose the seats. I hate that, and this is why I don't fly some of the cheap airlines that only offer that option. If you didn't select that class though, that might be fixable, hopefully. Good luck!
