I charted city property tax revenue in real dollars vs the Seattle-area inflation rate for my little city. Everything is bad but post-COVID inflation (including tariffs, trade wars, wars, labor, etc.) is just killing cities. Road construction costs are up like 70% year over year.

Washington has an utterly insane provision in its constitution saying that cities can only increase property taxes by 1% a year, and predictably, a bunch of cities are going broke.
