My speculation for 2026 is that we are going to see a lot more efforts to severely restrict ebikes in the US, because of the safety hysteria that currently surrounds them, and because the regime in power loathes any alternative to cars burning more fossil fuels.
My goals + hopes for 2026 are to acquire a 2nd ebike, so I can have one for Winter, one for Summer, and at least one new conventional bicycle, ideally two. One casual, one fitness.

Whether most current models are trained unethically has nothing to do with AI as a concept. Same with energy use. Those are critiques of industrial data sourcing and data-centre scale, not of delegation, authorship, or tools. You’re switching debates midstream and pretending that answers the original point.
My post is about consistency. The art world already decided that authorship lives upstream and physical labour is optional. Koons directs. Others execute. He approves. Everyone agrees that’s ethical. Once that rule exists, you don’t get to resurrect “the hand” only when delegation becomes cheaper and more accessible.
If you want to argue copyright theft or energy policy, argue that directly with data farms and rights violators. Don’t smuggle it in as a rebuttal to a different claim. That’s argument drift, not refutation.

A2. Many great times. From day rides with my club, to evening flat out (for me) summer training rides, to long bike touring / packing trips with an old school cycling buddy
Most recently I went over to watch the Tour and met a bunch of people also going to watch, but what made my day was chatting to a mum and teenage daughter in the ferry queue who were just going over for a long weekend cycling in Northern France who were completely oblivious to the race being on. Lovely

The Witch Head Nebula 🧙♀️
It sits next to bright Rigel in Orion. You can see a little bit of the star glow at top right.
Being a reflection nebula, this thing doesn’t glow in pink or blue like emission nebulae do. All you’re seeing is star light bouncing off “dust”. Which is this case is more
like smoke; very fine particles mixed in with the usual gas.
If you look carefully, you’ll see a scattering of background galaxies dotted around the image.

So if you initiate the phone-to-phone Signal account transfer process, and it almost completes, such that the account is transferred, but the data isn't, and then errors out ... and if you didn't have backups enabled ... then your entire chat history just vanishes into thin air with zero recourse. In other words, Signal nukes your history from orbit on the old phone before validating that it actually successfully transferred to the new phone.
I am indescribably angry right now.
Once, you could send mail by telnet to port 25, and enter a few commands.
I use to send mails from Santa Claus that way.
For some reason, it's not that simple any more.
