Hello friends, hope your day went well. An hour or so ago Melissa looked outside and we had half a herd of deer eating corn in the woods. I probably need to buy another bag or two. We don't feed year round but with the ground covered in snow the last two weeks I figured they could use a little help. Hopefully this stuff starts melting more quickly this weekend.

Hello all, happy hump day! I might have mentioned before that I was waiting on a collaboration between Shawn Houston aka Big Brown Bear the custom knife maker and Spyderco for 18 months. The model I wanted has been in limbo for a while and comments made by Eric Glesser at a recent knife moved my hand. So instead of the Yojumbo I got the Military 2. It's in the 15v steel which is now out of production. The BBB is the makers logo on the blade.

Good morning!

It's weird that it seems like a very warm morning, considering it's only 24F (-4C). We'll have our second day in a row above freezing today, and maybe some of the snow and ice will melt. I considered walking this morning, but then saw a post from a neighbor who said yesterday's snowmelt had left ice everywhere and the paths are very slippery. So no.

I hope to get some writing done today, and I'll probably do some chores. I have leftovers to eat, so I don't need to cook. I need to write.

The coyote was out earlier this evening. Melissa put out a pile of corn and bird seed. I would imagine the it's attracted to the 20 deer, birds and multiple woodland creatures that visited throughout the day.

I'm glad he survived the extreme cold. Nights got to -20°F with the wind, plus a foot of snow. They're resilient animals. 🐺

Good morning!

Another frigid day, looking at a high temperature well below freezing. This has gotten very old.

I'm hoping to spend the day writing, or I should say rewriting. Whether I am able to will depend on how much of a pest Theo decides to be. I've had to shut him from the room once already this morning -- for hiding under the bed and then jumping out to leap onto my leg and hang there by his claws. I need to buy more bandaids when I go to the store.

I love my little Theo, but I don't like him very much right now.

While walking to the checkout at Costco just now a young guy popped out of an aisle leaving his girlfriend cut off. I stopped and gestured for her to go. She did and then grabbed her boyfriend's arm and I guess told him he cut me off. They then spent two minutes apologizing and trying to let me go ahead. I told them they hadn't cut me off and to please go. They wouldn't accept that. Very polite though. I finally asked if I was that damn scary? The girl assured me I wasn't and they went.
