I have a temporary Unifi setup with a Unifi AC Pro, an 8 Port PoE Switch, PoE Passive Switch (can't remember the models) and a USG (they were hand-me-downs from a friend for a good price at the time).

Did have a browse but not sure what to go for. Between yourself, @justine and @stefano it looks like I have some good folks to ask for help when the time comes. :)

@joshaspinall @justdude @justine I'm currently configuring this for my office.
At the moment, I'm managing around 50 #MikroTik devices. They're all doing great.
I have more or less other 50 devices to be delivered or "just in case". They can be off for years - I upgrade them, reset to default settings and they're ready to do their job in a reliable way.
Oh, and I also have a watchdog!

Moving from Unifi to Mikrotik is quicker and easier then I thought (the buy phase 😉 )

RB5009 as router & firewall (2.5G connection to the ISP modem)
hAP ax2 as AP (wifi)router somewhere in the house
CAP ax for the enhanced wifi experience (yes I have demanding housemates)

That will upgrade wifi to 6, add WPA3 and replace opnsense (an old device which reduces throughput)
And an implicit move for US to EU products

So I've got my #Mikrotik cAP ax mounted and the #UniFi equipment removed from my #Homelab successfully. I've also integrated it into #HomeAssistant just because with it's own user and group using the api. So far so good and yes there are a lot of settings in the MikroTik and it takes some understanding but I got there in the end. Even upgraded it and made backups. 😁

I'm actually glad to be rid of the US equipment and I did notice that the AP casing had gone sticky for some reason. It's only been ceiling mounted for a good 5 or so years. Oh well good riddance and as for the #MikroTik I'm surprised by how good it's range is as I thought it might be a little less than the UniFi AC Pro but no it's better. I'm not sure if I'm going to have an excuse to purchase another for downstairs yet as it works so well ????

NOTE - I live in a wooden house not a brick in sight.
