I’m a freelance software dev (mainly working for the french ministry of #ecology), but my 2nd (and favorite) hat is #cartography and #data analysis (mainly with https://democratiserlapolitique.org 🥰 right now).

My fav project I’ve worked on was “100 jours de zbeul”, a web leaderboard for the 2023 french manifestations that was really irritating to right wingers ✊.

Just did a tiny consulting job - essentially speedrunning @qgis print composer for academic multi panel figure making.

...with a little intuitive geo guessing and a sprinkle of composition/ visual flow theory.

Result?

A year long pain point solved in a few hours.

I'm more than happy to do full day workshops on this - consider hiring me as part of your next writing retreat / conference. Can also work with matplotlib/cartopy and Inkscape ;)

A little more work on my custom stereogram (magic eye) python node for ComfyUI. There seems to be an optimal ratio for the image size to the pattern size, but I'm not sure exactly what that is yet. Feels like I'm getting closer though.

Here's Crater Lake, and the depth map it came from. If your eyes are able to get the 3d effect to converge, you should see an exaggerated z-scale of the topography/bathymetry.

this is an opportunity for cartographers to flex their skills and do some serious #antifa #praxis by mapping #ICE deployment/duty stations with Open Street Maps.

antifa #cartography is a real thing. there is an actual example of it in WWII popular culture: the Sherlock Holmes movie about the nazi psyops leading to The Blitz, “Sherlock Holmes and The Voice of Terror”.

that movie was shot as WW2 was happening, so it’s an incredible contemporaneous pop culture interpretation of what happened.

Further along on this piece, but still have some refining to do. I need to buy some paint.
