@giacomo I think we already discussed this, but the goal of that statement I think it was to have more participation in the GNU project's management process.

I don't think it has anything to do with the personal views of RMS, who has certainly made unfortunate comments about various subjects and didn't measure (maybe he is not able to) the noise they were going to have.

I think De Vault's RMS "sexual misconduct" alegation was bullying. I don't think this is.

@ekaitz_zarraga@mastodon.social yes I know we discussed this before and I know you are trying in good faith to make #Guix better.

That's why I didn't mention you in my first post of this thread.

Sure #DeVault's attack on #RMS was much more direct and full of lies and mischaracterizations, but the Guix one was even more vile, as backstabbing a man when he's weak is worse than a frontal attack.

Sure, #Stallman hold a lot of bad opinions. As a white american grown up during cold war I'm surprised he doesn't hold many even worse. I even think that he got wrong the fundamental values of #FreeSofware (!!!), so it's not an hero or a saint to me: I'm fully capable of debating with him on his own biggest achievements.

What I cannot accept is backstabbing a weirdo because he is too weird. And just to weaken his rigorously held line on free software.

FreeSoftware should celebrate #weirdness!

@giacomo @civodul @lrvick @rekahsoft Apologize for what? Having and voicing an opinion?

#Guix leadership should publicly apologize for leading a shitstorm against #RMS that pushed him to resign from #MIT in 2019.

The excuse back then was his opinion on Minsky involvement with Epstein, but in fact the goal was to challenge his leadership over the #FreeSoftware movement.

Not content, two years later, the mob tried again.

Now, all people can have opinions, me, you, #Stallman, GUIX devs...
And they have the right to express their opinions, as both RMS and those GUIX devs did.

But they had plenty of space in their personal blogs and socials to do so.

Using the blog of guix, even ignoring the opinions of several mainteiners that still hate to be associated with that "joint statement", was #bullism.

Thus I'll consider Guix again when I'll see another joint statement on their home page apologizing for that vile attack to RMS.
