Hey, #tech side of Mastodon, I have a #question
Is Squarespace actually good? Is Wix actually good? Is there a superior option out there?
I know it's possible to learn HTML but I don't really want to do that, and I also don't really want to spend the money commissioning someone who can make a good website themselves.
My goal is to make an author website where I can promote my works, have a portfolio, publish some stories, and have a small blog.

I’m not super techie but can answer because I’ve used both Squarespace and Wix. Squarespace was clunky, although that was several years ago, so not sure about now or if there was anything else I disliked about it.
Wix is so VERY VERY VERY BAD. It is evil incarnate, the essence of enshittification. It sucks you in and seems all nice and easy, but if you ever want out, it’s a convoluted process with wait times (during which they’re still charging you, of course!). Customer service is nonexistent.
I also tried WordPress, Patreon, and Substack and finally gave up and relearned HTML (starting on Neocities and now on Nekoweb). May you find something that works for you! 🙏🏼
