This upcoming storm will bring very heavy, though not unprecedented, rainfall to SoCal coastal plain (2-4+ inches), with 10+ inches in mountains. But bigger issue will be high rainfall *rates*: torrential 1-3 hour downpours are possible, along w/t-storms. #CAwx

There is also a notably high risk of thunderstorm activity with both the Tue-Wed and Wed-Thu storm waves this week. Even more unusual is elevated threat of *severe* thunderstorms, possibly containing very strong wind gusts, torrential rainfall, and even a brief tornado. #CAwx
