Today's hike. I've done this trail before but never in the snow. Slow going but beautiful.

Portentous or just foreshortened.

The base of a fallen tree in snow. Its cross section forms a C around a hollowed out center. The trunk goes away from us to the left, then bends up and to the right, where it branches out.
