@pavitra I keep my Instagram app a bit buried on my home screen to avoid accidental opens and disabled all the notifications so I’m not pulled in by shiny).
Once you follow enough folks (and/or hashtags), you will never be out of fresh takes or rehashed comments from folks you’re interested in (and the ones they’re interested in). No algorithm required. It’s great.

@pavitra @pixelfed yeah honestly it’s kinda wild. There’s equivalents to most popular social media (Reddit -> piefed, insta-> pixelfed, TikTok -> loops, goodreads -> bookwyrm, YouTube -> peertube), but they’re all on the same protocol, activitypub, so they all talk to each other, which means you can do things like post to a piefed community from mastodon by just @‘ing it. It takes a minute to get your head around, but once you do it, it rules.
