I agree with this creator here that despite the fact that large protests like No Kings are symbolic, they are also so incredibly important for building a larger coalition, etc.
My own thoughts on No Kings are along these same lines.
It is an access point for people who are new to this.
Also, guys, to newcomers, you can frame actions BEFORE No Kings as a type of “practice” if you will. It’s a big event people can work towards, a motivation to inform themselves about protests, privacy, etc.
“Let me show you a thing called signal before the next No Kings”.
“They’re having an ice observer training, might be useful, you know they’re coming for the superb owl.”
And so on.
Practice. Practice. Practice.
@astroPug Community is an entire, huge, part of the point. I’m not going to watch that video but I’m knee-jerk suspicious of anybody trying to discourage community, protesting, speaking out.
I’m so sorry. I just realized something.
I worded my post above very badly so that I accidentally misrepresented that poor YouTube creator.
What I meant is that I agree with her entire video which makes the point that although big protests are mainly symbolic they are really important because they are, among other things, good entry level points for new activists, and good for giving people hope.

I learned it because I happened to be here, on the fediverse, and I was here because I was miffed about twitter despite never even having been on twitter.
There are many entry points to spaces for learning and activism.
