@marcohackney we could have standards and treaties without the lobby-controlled super-government that wants to ban encryption and instate mass surveillance. fuck the EU

@marcohackney I hope enough people recognize these advantages of the #EU. - Otherwise many members states have growing far-right movements and parties... what is it that they don't understand?!

@mmol I think that this problem doesn't start on an EU level but by national problems. And at the same time it's an international, nearly global problem, because in hard transition times, these people work with fears.
Unfortunately, the EU does not have any truly effective security mechanisms to exclude fascist states, for example. (When these mechanisms were made, the problem didn't exist yet).

... and as of today and with the release of the #epstein files it turns out that most of the right-wing movements in #Europe were/are heavily supported by epstein and his billionaire buddies (e. g. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2025/11/17/epstein-tommy-robinson-and-the-links-with-europes-right/).

@marcohackney "The EU" by which I guess they mean *institutional* EU is no more complex than any national bureaucracy (especially if you have a bicameral parliament) and anyone claiming to be a grownup citizen whining about it can just go try to complain to Ingeborg about it as far as I'm concerned:

@marcohackney @Veza85UE in all honesty that quote at the end of the clip is quite offensive. As a former EU citizen born and living in a current EU member country, I've been told for at least 40 years that if I don't like the political climate to fuck off back to my own country. This is a line that crypto-fascists use. When we didn't like racist Black Peter, fuck off back to your own country. When we complain about institutional racism, fuck off back to your own country.

I hate populists as much as any sane person, and anyone telling people to fuck off back to their own country can't be trusted

@webhat @marcohackney She's very much trying to offend the people "cashing massive EU salaries" in that clip and telling them to fuck off and do what the Brits did if they don't like it. Even if it weren't a silly comedy show, I'd still support offending those people we pay thousands of euros every month to spit on us. It's not about you, but about parasitical hypocrites in positions of power. You might like her dunk on the Dutch tho.

@marcohackney @Veza85UE I don't disagree with the sentiments, just with the words she used to state them. Thanks for sharing, I'll take a look
