It's Monday. But for the first time in 17 years, it's not a Monday in January. So that's something, at least. Glædelig mandag. Just sending you a postcard from #Aarhus, just to say that I hope this week treats you kindly.

Short version: a snowy pier. Fuller description. A pier at Aarhus harbour, Denmark, a few years ago. A blanket of snow on grass, some bare winter trees and bushes sticking up. Snow falling. The sea is grey-black. The sky is a blob of grey nothingness. Docklands buildings under construction and warehouses and cranes in the distance are barely-there grey, like ghost skylines. One splash of colour in the middle: the city sign that welcomes visitors arriving by sea. Spelled out in separate bright red letters about 2 metres high: A A R H U S. White snow edges the letters.

@CiaraNi To think there are people alive today who have known nothing but January!

@jonassmith This is a very melancholy thought! I took it literally for a second and thought: oh my, there actually are.

@jonassmith @CiaraNi didn't think of it that way before, but you're right. This is my sons first time experiencing a not-January. I'm not sure what he feels about it. He's both fascinated by, and annoyed by the extra sunlight that sometimes blasts though our windows.

@benjaminlj @CiaraNi Ah yes, hope your son makes peace with February! BTW I was trying to make a joke on Ciara's "January has lasted 17 years" statement.

@jonassmith @CiaraNi right... That widens the group quite a bit. 😅
