One testifying is Martin Daniel Rascon, a US citizen & San Bernardino, CA resident who was a passenger inside a car when #ICE & #CBP agents fired gunshots into the vehicle.

#AliyaRahman, who is autistic & has auditory challenges when many people are talking at once, was brutally dragged from her car by #ICE agents in #Minneapolis. #DHS claimed in a statement that she an “agitator” who “ignored multiple commands by an officer to move her vehicle away from the scene.”

“As an #autistic person, it was particularly difficult to understand what the officers wanted me to do. I personally experience audio sorting challenges as an autistic person. This makes it so that voices near & far are prioritized in the same way, making it difficult for me to figure out who is talking to me. Because of this, I tend to rely on reading lips. You can imagine how difficult it was for me to try to read lips when #ICE officers are completely #masked,” #AliyaRahman said.

#AliyaRahman emphasized that, her #disability notwithstanding, this would not have been an easy moment to navigate for anyone. “I think it’s also important to point out that even someone who is not #autistic would have trouble handling that situation. It was chaotic & overwhelming. There was a lot going on & it was happening fast.”
The incident occurred just blocks away from where, a week earlier, an #ICE agent shot & killed #ReneeGood. “I constantly wondered if I was going to die,” Rahman said.
