The two things that will always make me laugh about people that tie themselves in knots about #thebadspace is that 1. it's actually a companion project to #fipamo because I want everyone to have a quality moderation tool that they can control themselves and 2. it's completely optional.

If one doesn't like it, they can literally do use it to do their own thing or just ignore it.

This is why I believe most people that proclaim to hate the project are doing so for reasons that have nothing to do with the actual project and more to do with how they feel about *who* is building it.

Ha, and we all know how the fedi feels about Black folks with opinions here.

I've been on the web for almost thirty years and I've never ran into opposition to blocklists like I have in the fedi. Community curation has been such a common thing from irc to forums. Any web vet will tell you this.

This bizarre behavior is unique to the fedi in my estimation because it never anticipated some other than white people would have an interest in independent social media, and it my case, be pretty adept at contributing to it.

Play Vicious showed a lot of people how the goals posts of indie social media ideals shift when it comes to people that aren't white.

Which means those 'ideals' are merely just dressed up biases.

@are0h I think you're right.

And for the recordi don't have any opposition at all to blocklists... I question the people who would have such a problem.

The irony/hypocrisy is these ‘opposition' people probably have every cookie and ad blocker known to god on their browser to 'protect' themselves from 'the man’... but blocklists on Fedi!? Sacrilege!

makes no sense!
