I just discovered Tannith Lee and she was such an amazing writer that I hope that the publishing industry, including readers, treated her with the utmost highest of respect until her death. I eventually want to write about how awful it is that word gets out about fantastic authors when more famous authors are dreadful in one way or another. Like, I wish readers would’ve been screaming about her excellent work long before Neil Gaiman was awful. I want a world where everyone shouts out fantastic authors because they’re fantastic, not because of what someone else did/does. There’s just something very uncomfortable about how everyone is like, yes, he’s a creep, if you want an author that’s not a creep, you should check her out, and my question to them is, why are you suddenly recommending her now? Is it just simply because you think he ripped her off? Or do you genuinely enjoy her work? There is something about that that will never be normal to me. She was a fantastic author. Read her for that rather than just a replacement for an awful author. I’m reading one of her short stories in https://share.libbyapp.com/title/1144207

@WeirdWriter

This sounds like when I first started to read Ursula Le Guin. An amazing author with a large body of work. Do you have any recommendations on where to start in the list of *checks notes* 660 hits on Goodreads?

@WeirdWriter I read Silver Metal Lover in the SF book club edition decades ago when it came out. Devastatingly good. I've recommended it on Mastodon before, and I am now doing so again. Read it, then move on to Nicola Griffith @Nicolaz. Here's an image of my book shelf. More in #AltText.

A bookshelf with Silver Metal Lover by Tanith Lee pulled out. Works by Nicola Griffith, Lisanne Norman, Clare Bell, and CJ Cherryh also show.

My edition. Likely a first edition since it isn't otherwise noted, published in 1981.

@WeirdWriter I own every single one of her books. I love that her books are now starting to appear in audio. Well, some of them have been around but there are new ones showing up.

@ppatel I imagine someone from her estate is making these audio deals. I did not know where to begin so I started with The Claidi collection. Lee, Tanith. Total time 21 hours 19 minutes 48 seconds
