Favorite nonfiction includes Fresh Banana Leaves by Jessica Hernández, The Other Slavery by Andres Reséndez & Emergent Strategy by adrienne maree brown. And my favorite manga ever is Fullmetal Alchemist - unbeatable IMO (although I am loving The Summer Hikaru Died these days). I’m rodile on Storygraph.

✏️Current writing projects include a novel about lesbian ecoterrorists & an amorphous story about an anarchist-reformist enemies-to-lovers-to-enemies? situationship.

🎶Music I love includes Mitski, The Muslims, The Gits, Left at London & Doechii. I also love swimming and sleeping and petting my dogs!!!! And persimmons 😅

Question on #copyright I intend to publish a public domain book, Myths and Legends of the Bantu. I think it's an important documentation of our cultures, but it has problematic and racist content. So my goal is to strip it of racism, fix some factual errors, etc. I can't claim authorship, original author has moral rights to that. I'll only claim editorship. But 1) Can I legally register a copyright to this edition? 2) Is this whitewashing the author of her racism?

43% of literary translators and 37% of SoA illustrators saw earnings fall due to GenAI

This is a report on the UK state of affairs, but it could equally be representative of what is happening here in Australia.

I've posted about this in the past, so thought I should do a final update. I saw an announcement today that Draft2Digital is FINALLY letting us list our ebooks on bookshop .org. I just logged into my account to check it out and a banner immediately popped up which let me list all 10 of my books with one click 🥳

My daughter took this photograph of me today, quickly, in my bedroom. We swept the mess off the table, moved the dirty clothes off the chair and tried to make things look presentable, including me.

I complained the entire time about how I looked. The light wasn’t good, my hair was greasy, I’m 42 on Sunday, I want to lose weight, I’m in perimenopause. But this is something I do. Saying it out loud has become a habit.
