I don’t see the public or the Congress getting much out of this committee hearing.
Though #Republicans voiced dismay & skepticism of federal #immigration enforcement operations in the immediate aftermath of #AlexPretti’s killing, that outrage seems to have dissipated in the weeks since & faded back into partisan immigration politics.

In prepared remarks released before the House hearing ,Todd Lyons, acting director of #ICE, said he was encouraged that some #Minnesota officials were “signaling a willingness to cooperate with ICE” but that “promises are not enough.”

Todd Lyons, acting director of #ICE, said that about 3,000 officers, out of roughly 13,000 in the field were equipped with #BodyCameras. Last week, #KristiNoem, #DHS secretary, said that all #immigration officers in #Minneapolis would be given body cameras & that the program would be expanded nationwide “as funding is available.”
