This article attempts to say that #atomic and #immutable are two different things when it comes to operating systems, yet it doesn't make any attempt to label the nine Linux distros it lists under atomic/immutable as one or the other.

Plus it missed #AeonDesktop and #Kalpa entirely, while mentioning #OpenSUSE MicroOS, which isn't a desktop system (though Kalpa is derived from it).

Atomic vs. immutable Linux: Why choose one when these nine distros offer both?

If immutable and atomic distributions are the path forward for Linux, how do you choose? Maybe you don't have to. I break it all down.

@passthejoe@snac.bsd.cafe There is a LOT of innovation in the atomic/immutable distro world, and while they all share some things, each is distinguished by features and architecture that make it unique. It's not a situation where there's a Debian or Ubuntu that 50 downstreams are relabeling with different color schemes.

And I continue to think that atomic and immutable mean the same thing in the context of Linux systems.
