#Trump is speaking at the first “#BoardOfPeace” meeting
Trump proposed the board in September 2025 when he announced *his* plan to end the #Gaza war.
He later made clear its remit would be expanded beyond Gaza to other global conflicts.
Trump will be the chairman & purportedly it will be tasked with promoting peace around the world & resolving conflicts.
According to its charter it will undertake "peace-building functions in accordance with #InternationalLaw" — we’ll see.
"This is an extortion scheme where you pay to not have war.
If you pay, Trump will arrange to kidnap your head of state.
If you pay, Trump will arrange an ethnic cleansing.
If you pay, Trump will arrange a Russian invasion.
If you pay, Trump will arrange a fossil fuel shakedown.
If you pay, Trump will arrange an election win.
If you pay, Trump will arrange mafia-style public corruption."
The problem with Mafia Don's is you never stop paying.

Governments around the world have reacted cautiously to the #Trump initiative.

Many rights experts say that #Trump overseeing a board to supervise a foreign territory's affairs resembled a colonial structure & have criticized the board for not including a #Palestinian.

The meeting started with opening remarks by #Trump & by #JDVance.
"This is a big day, & lots of people watching," Trump said.
"We have a large group of leaders, & the ones that aren't here are watching on Zoom, I hope they enjoy it."
"What we're doing is very simple: peace. It's called the Board of Peace, & it's all about an easy word to say, but a hard word to produce: peace."

He attacked those who declined to accept his invitation to join.

#Trump says he sees the #BoardOfPeace taking a wider role in resolving global conflicts which some countries fear means it could be an attempt to replace the #UnitedNations.
This along with the fact that #Russia & #Belarus were invited to join means many Western countries have taken a cautious approach.
