If you buy from Audible, make sure you download and get rid of the Audible DRM on your purchased audio files. A strange bug has been happening to me. I purchased audiobooks with cash, and these are favorite authors, so I knew I wanted to buy them. I never returned them. But today, Audible is acting as if I never bought them. @WeirdWriter @jaybird110127 My favorite program for this is Open Audible. You have to pay for it, but it is well worth the price.
@ysotomayor @jaybird110127 Ah! Thank you! I tried it years ago and found it lacking, but it's also possible I just didn't get the program, like I was missing something on how to best use it but I use Libation, but will certainly give OpenAudible another look!

tl;dr don't "undownload" your audiobooks.
I have been peppering Audible for more than a year regarding purchased books no longer available from the app. I have used audible for many years and hiccups and bugs.
I Highly recommend open audio to preserve your books and convert them to m4b style to maintain your own library.
I'm interested in talking to more owners of disappearing purchases and open audible users.
@WeirdWriter I had this happen before, but pretty sure it was because I was running an old version of the app on an old version of IOS, but downloading and removing DRM is a must anytime you buy something from there imo.
@JustGrist Oh yeah absolutely! I assumed the author uploaded a new version of the audiobook, but I checked and the publication date did not change, and the publisher is the same. I am using an iPhone SE third generation, but I have the latest version of iOS and the latest version of the app unfortunately. I utterly despise calling their customer service department because their customer service script is horrible, did you try logging out and in again to your account? OMG. I agree 100% though, downloading anything from Audible is an absolute imperative today. Their catalog is glitching as well. I have my favorite audiobook narrators. I often go to see what they release. Every time I click on their name, now I’m seeing virtual voice show up alongside audiobooks they’ve narrated and I know these are narrators that would never willingly do this and the text to speech recordings don’t even sound like the narrator in question
@WeirdWriter Yep. Thee couple books I had this happen with are the exact same version of the book. No upgraded audio quality or anything. Just reissued with an updated copyright maybe? I almost immediately back up anything from audible. Have been doing it for over a decade at this point.
I am relatively new to audible, and just started using it because of a book I wanted to purchase and be able to read multiple times. If you are comfortable sharing, maybe in dm, I would love to know how to download it and remove the DRM

And by the way, shameless plug but I have audiobooks on Audible that aren’t anywhere else unfortunately, but if you are low income, I will just give you the audiobooks if you would like to check them out but as a reader I started shopping at Libro.fm more, and only purchasing exclusive titles on Audible

I just got audible because I wanted two particular books for a book club. I can check out libro. I used to use the library of Congress, but something happened to my account and I can never get a hold of anyone there through email
@NilaJones Yep! Typing in Kingett in Audible will bring them up. I love NLS but as for me, I also serialize all of my audiobooks on my podcast. @amici Thank you! I personally use Libation. Last time I tried open Audible, it converted everything to MP3 rather than M4B but I want to give it another try because it’s actually been years since I tried it last
