Wow, I just installed the latest #LinuxMint with #Xfce desktop on a 19 year-old #iMac with a beautiful 20" screen (4gb RAM, 1tb disk) and it's 😍

Absolutely usable for web surfing, emails, documents, like all normal office use. Blown away by just how good old hardware can perform if one uses the right software.

Big kudos to everyone contributing to @linuxmint ♥️

@ilumium @linuxmint I put Zorin17 on a 2013 MacBook Air. At first I was going to use it for a supplemental music player, but this computer has the best keyboard I have ever used so I added a few writing apps and I’ll be using it more. Otherwise it doesn’t get online.
Same 4 gb ram as yours.

(The only complexity at installation being that Mint does not install the correct Broadcom wifi drivers for unknown reasons. I had to plug a network cable to manually install them from the default sources.)

@ilumium Oh !! I installed also Mint on a old iMac and the wifi don't work as you said, but I didn't found how to enable / install the drivers.

Do you have a page or a link that explain how to do that?

@lascapi Sure thing: for me the solution was to avoid the proprietary drivers that Mint proposes and instead do

sudo apt install firmware-b43-installer

on the command line to install the correct drivers. After a reboot my WiFi worked as it should. I have no idea why those aren't installed by default.
