I haven't done too much with them yet, but I'm with you on the feeling of wanting to keep work and my personal life/social network life separate.

@Gina Back in the Netscape days we had a Bad Attitude news group which The Management lurked on (known) and the Really Bad Attitude private mailing list which they did not.
But those were the old ways for the old days, I suppose.

@Gina I realized one day that Mastodon is a quieter network. But it's still a social network, and the people who come here are the same ones who were on other social networks.
That helped me understand that what I don't like is people.
Either you say everything without fear, or you don't publish anything. I, for example, ended up putting cats in my house to avoid talking about certain things and to silence my harsh opinions.

Also not sure if I should even long post about my intention to move abroad, since I'm on a tech focused server. Don't want to bother yall but it's also such a big theme in my life atm that I don't have much else to post about 😅

@graves I know, but there's something about blogposts that make it very unenjoyable for me to write them. I think it perfectionism, because it needs to somehow be a coherent story. A blogpost takes me on average 8 hrs to write. 🥲
Mastodon posts are much easier.
@Gina your boss notwithstanding, I think it's fine to talk about this on fosstodon. If people aren't interested in this important topic in your life, they could mute you for a little while. Personally, I don't mind hearing about the other things going on.

None of us is only our job or our hobbies. Our lives are full of different things, and we should be talking about them when we want to.
Also, I'm sure that disliking the climate of central or northern Europe is not going to come as a major shock to anybody who's spent more than ten minutes there...

@Gina Life is holistic though. Nobody is just tech. The same mind that is given to tech matters can also reflect on a widely eclectic range of subjects.
