Okay, I just found out that, while updating Windows 3.1 to Windows 95, you are given the option to keep the program manager as your default Windows shell. LOL... my whole life has been a lie! 馃槀

Even better you could tell 3.1 to use another application instead of progman, which, because there was no memory, was quite efficient.
@kevinrns Yes, you could set any program as a shell in Windows 3.x... I used this option for a while setting up DOORS! as an alternative desktop.
