Israel’s military said Sunday its strikes had killed 40 top Iranian #military officials, including the armed forces’ chief of staff, Abdolrahim Mousavi. Neither #Iran nor the #US immediately commented on the claim.

It comes after #Trump said Saturday that the joint #Israel - US attack killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali #Khamenei.

#Israel also said Saturday that its opening strikes killed other top Iranian defense officials as they gathered in meetings, including Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh & Mohammad Pakpour, the commander of the paramilitary Revolutionary Guard [#IRGC]. There was no comment from #Iran or the #US.

Mousavi’s predecessor, Mohammad Bagheri, was killed by Israeli strikes in the June war.
