Sen #TimKaine also echoed Sen #MarkWarner (D-VA), the top #Democrat of the #Senate #Intelligence Cmte, saying that “all of the intelligence” he has seen suggests that there was “no imminent threat” from #Iran. He said Iran was “a decade” away from building missiles that could reach the #US.

#Republican lawmakers are defending Trump’s decision. Sen Dave McCormick (R-PA) said on Fox News that the #WarPowers Resolution of 1973 gives the president 60 days to commit armed forces to #military actions before having to seek congressional approval. Rep Pat Harrigan (R-NC) also said #Trump “followed the law,” echoing the same argument.

Rep #RoKhanna (D-CA), one of the lead sponsors of the War Powers Resolution to rein in #Trump on #Iran, told NBC News that he believes that a vote, expected in the #House this week, will be “very close.”
