I decided to make an infrastructure investment today. For the @owncast instances I host on behalf of folks in the community (including @JenJen and @ozoned), I will soon be piloting AV1 as the video codec to replace H.264, with the intention to fully switchover if things go well with testing. AV1 requires a lot more computational compute to encode than H.264, so a GPU is effectively a requirement.

@logan @owncast @JenJen @ozoned Wouldn't an Intel GPU not be much better value for your usecase? AFAIK their video encoders are better than the competition but my knowledge might be outdated.
