Discussion
Fireside Fedi is a show where we sit down with folks that are a part of the Fediverse and get to know them. A relaxing chill time. Powered fully by Fediverse connected tech.
UPCOMING EPISODES:
@firesidefedi Sounds interesting.
Title suggestions: "Works on my machine"...or something long those lines
@lqdev@toot.lqdev.tech I bought debugdebrief.live and I think yours is better I got worksonmymachine.live and womm.live.
@firesidefedi Okay that sounds freakin' funny and cool.
It's a good premise with plenty of comedy potential, but I bet we could learn something along the way.
If you're looking for a show title I'll suggest this one:
"Moron installs software in front of developer."
(I of course mean "moron" in an endearing sense, i.e. "non-expert")
@calvin@fedi.sphericalcow.space lol similar to idiot's guides.
Debug & Debrief - Live INSTALL Episodes with Developer Commentary
@firesidefedi it would be awesome doing that while following their docs in front of them, so they can see someone installing in real time and fill in the bits they gloss over!
@nigel@unsociable.lowkey.party Yes! I just did something like this yesterday:
tubefree.org/w/7dWK9RQqdkFq5...
I had a blast, the dev got to see how I might mess it up or what I was expecting from it, people in chat seemed to enjoy it.
Odd question for folks... Would ANYONE be interested in a podcast "show" where I talk with a developer while attempting to install their software? The dev gets to spread awareness of their app, they get to see me being an idiot and attempt to idiot proof their software, and we all learn about new projects, new technologies out there.
Fireside Fedi Devi? lol idk I'd have to work on the name.
@firesidefedi this is my most suitable hat because I am someone who often has croissants on my mind, and now they are literally on my mind too✨🤣
@haubles@hachyderm.io I feel like I've never had a GOOD croissants as much as people tell me how GOOD they're supposed to be. It's bread. Classic American, uncultured, 1 KNOW! Closest I get to fine dining it watching Gordon Ramsey yell at someone on a cooking competition.
@haubles @firesidefedi as it behooves the FOSDEM flu, it can and is being freely redistributed :-)
@j12t@j12t.social @haubles@hachyderm.io This brings up an excellent point.
Johannes can we know the steps you're taking to help protect everyone from getting sick on the UPCOMING FEDIFORUM
( March 2nd get your tickets here events.humanitix.com/fedifor... )
that's an UnConference and wholly remote?
Johannes I don't know if you're aware, but all of the people coming have THEIR OWN social networks! So you know they're all a big deal, and we want to make sure we take care of EVERYONE.
~~looks directly into the camera~~
Once again that's March 2nd get your tickets here events.humanitix.com/fedifor...

In lieu of today’s @firesidefedi episode, I give you a picture of my sick hat
(Sick because I’m wearing it while down bad with the FOSDEM flu, and because I think the hat is pretty neat!)
See you next week, friends! and thank you for the well wishes 💞
@haubles@hachyderm.io I hate to tell you, but I your hat is NOT a croissant. It's a hat. Or is that the hat's name?
Today's episode of Fireside Fedi with @haubles@hachyderm.io has to be reschedule. Hannah is under the weather from FOSDEM. Everyone please flood Hannah with all of your positive energy to help her recover as quickly as possible.
<3 Get Well Soon Hannah!
Was anyone aware that OBS now offers "Enhanced Broadcasting" aka Multritrack Video? This offloads video transcoding to the person that is streaming their content and off of the servers themselves.
This is the single biggest cost of hosting a livestreaming server. If users are willing to use what's in their system we can make the bar to entry incredibly low.

@firesidefedi Is there an issue with episode 64? It will not play for me.
@gnilleps@mastodon.art Yes there appears to be an issue with that episode for some reason. Taking a look at it. I don't think I have the original files anymore so sadly it might be caput. So I might have to just have another talk with Jo in the future. 😊
Just wanted yo give folks a heads up that @scottjenson@social.coop and my discussion got cut off earlier due to technical issues. We're going to reschedule for the future.
I have had people state they didn't know I run a nonprofit as well as @firesidefedi . My #nonprofit is @BTFree .
