@logan@social.logal.dev this is amazing. I don't know what this means AT ALL. But it sounds awesome and for someone hosting Owncast streams for fun shows an incredible passion we have on the Fediverse. Keep up the amazing work and thank you Sir

@logan@social.logal.dev I don't throw it away! The damn sock goblin has teamed up with a cutlery troll.

@j12t@j12t.social I wonder how we could get folks involved. We'd need it occasionally updated as well. A network wide survey.

@logan@social.logal.dev can you draw them in invisbile ink? Can you make the lines in the shape of a cat? Stricly all perpendicular.

Any journalists want to write an article about all the environmental costs of the more than 10,000 Starlinks that are now in orbit? All I'm seeing are breathless articles mindlessly worshiping That Awful Billionaire for crossing the 10,000 satellite mark.

Every single one of those will come down in an uncontrolled reentry. That's a lot of metal in the atmosphere, and a lot of dice-rolling to see if any more pieces will make it to the ground.

SpaceX is truly awful.

@logan@social.logal.dev that's a lot of lines. Good job!

@_elena@mastodon.social @theraccoonbytes@theforkiverse.com Do love some Lego. 😁 Great job.

@andypiper@macaw.social what are the odds of getting @Mastodon@mastodon.social operating costs? Per user. I don't know if they'd given full numbers or not, but if not, could we get per user?

As an open platform we have no real data on cost to user as we've all been separate. We all need to come together and figure out numbers so that when folks are attempting to sell this we can have general ideas.

YES, I know costs could waver MASSIVELY from one instance to the next. But if we can get general ideas like "$0.50/user" then we know it's not outlandish to ask for say $1.00/user so we can cover operating costs and build out our teams and networks to keep funding back into the Fediverse.

I'm on a solo instance here. But I've built it so it's over the top performance wise, and still a bit of issues but we're getting there. For this #Bonfire instance I apy $32/month.

And if someone could create a website, or a Fedi bot, or SOMETHING that could track this it'd be amazing to know. We could crowd source our data analysis for those that WANT to participate. #FediPrice #FediCost #financial #analysis #fediverse #fedi

I feel like there's a better way to do this ... any suggestions?

Also, anyone interested in any kind of Peertube Admin Coalition or anything? 😊

And anyone not on my ptindex.btfree.org and would like to be included, while meeting the general community guidelines?

Just found out about #Adnauseum #Firefox #Extension and I'm all for it.

Hey!

Thanks for sharing your time and energy here!

You're awesome and I sincerely appreciate you!

Just did some #livestreaming over on my #owncast stream.ozoned.net .

Worked on the #bash script for my public #Peertube index file that's hosted at ptindex.btfree.org if anyone wants to use it!

Or if you want to create your own chain of trust, you can get the script at git.btfree.org/BTFree/PTIndex and make your own!

Want to be alerted next time I go live? Just follow @ozoned@stream.ozoned.net from ANY Fediverse instance, and when I go live, you'll get a notification!

#OBS now supports WebRTC simulcast support.

I understand it'd be a HUGE undertaking, but what kind of time/money would it take to write a library to handle this to get it into #Owncast and #Peertube ?

Right now the single most expensive thing is transcoding. If we can support #Webrtc #Simulcast that moves to end users and the server can is just a pass through enabling anyone to run live streams through their Peertube or someone to run massively more Owncast streams at once.

So I'm being serious. What would this take?
