the bloody frustration of having to defend your empathy from “scientists,” who use the word without the required object, from “doctors,” who don’t know how words work.

Empathy FOR something, is how that word works. It’s not some binary that you just HAVE or don’t free of context of an object.

And when they do this, it’s a rhetorical trick, it’s because they can’t say what the object is, because it’s something technically immoral and probably illegal, something that doesn’t win them any moral arguments. So it’s just, “You don’t have empathy,” which is less harmful to them than, “You don’t have empathy for my abuse (probably of you).”

I mean, there’s a reason they feel they have to set up all those experiments intended to demonstrate our lack of empathy, and it’s because they really need some, from their charges (victims), for exactly their punitive discipline.
.
They think they’re being the grownups, doing the hard but necessary thing by abusing children and Autistics “for their own good,” and they don’t want any more trouble about it, it’s already the hard thing. As I always say, the punishment cult turns everything upside down, the professional child abusers of the ABA industry think they are owed their victims’ empathy, such is their built in, mad faith in the violence of punishment.
