Sunday was the North Wales League — and his first-ever U12 win.
He was a bit disappointed with the perceived depth of competition, but the race itself wasn’t straightforward. Behind after the first lap, he then got tangled with some nasty thorns that tore his leg up badly (it’s still swollen today).
But he kept going. Caught back on. Passed the rider ahead. And went on to win by nearly 30 seconds.

27 young riders, from #Cheltenham to #Matlock, #Newport #SouthWales to Blaenau Ffestiniog, all together for a four-hour, intense #cyclocross session.
Kids pushing each other, learning, levelling up — exactly what grassroots sport should look like.
It’s a genuine pleasure and honour to coach these young people.
