“The National Park Service has removed visitor brochures from the Medgar & Myrlie Evers Home National Monument. Among the anticipated changes? No longer calling his murderer a “‘racist.’”

Tides determine when access to this coastal area in Redwood National and State Parks is possible. With the recent full moon, sand has been carried quite a ways up the beach, with some even being deposited on top of the large pieces of driftwood near the back of the beach (foreground). In the background, lines of breaking waves approach the shore. In the center, a large near-shore rock stands out against the blue sky. Wave-like patterns appear on the driftwood in the foreground, which might suggest that this is a piece of curly redwood.
