Today I am releasing a small EP :)

The last months I played with the sound of the western capercaillie bird and I like the result, so I decided to share it with you all.

Capercaillie

An album by Nicolas Zentz Released 2026-02-05 Capercaillie is the result of 50 transformations of the same recording of a Western Capercaillie bird. For these transformations I used Supercollider and FFT processing. The analysis is disturbed by strong modulations so that artifacts appear and create melodies and rhythmic patterns extracted from the bird song. The original sound is dissected and reinterpreted by the computer again and again, which fails each time to reconstruct it perfectly. As the processing patch evolves and expands, the idea of the bird dissolves in the digital domain, fading into a spectral memory. As listeners we summon this ghost by recognizing patterns and traces from the original bird, leaving us with an uncanny sense of familiarity. Coda is a small improvisation that employs other processing techniques.

I'm starting to work out material for my upcoming live stream for @strim and thought I would throw it up as my first PeerTube-only video!

The vid is a live rehearsal of a new song I'm working on for my upcoming album. Dark electronic vibes, guitar, and vocals. It's early days for this song, but I'm liking it.
