I made an app for blind cubers. If you're into Rubik's cube, then Blind Cube is for you. The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and helps you add your cubes by defining the texture in each of the six stickers, solve a Rubik's cube after inputting the cube state, scramble the cube for you and gives you a timer to time your solves. It also includes a way for you to see how the cube looks like after each step of solving or scrambling the cube. Note: Blind people are the targeted audience for this app. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/blind-cube/id6758783304 #blind #cube #rubik’s_cube #puzzle #games

As it is the start of the month I would like to invite my fellow #Blind, #DeafBlind, and #VisuallyImpaired people, along with their family, and friends, to #OurBlind. OurBlind comprises the #Discord, #Lemmy, and #Reddit communities operated by the staff of the r/Blind subreddit, as well as those who have joined since the creation of the Discord in 2022, and Lemmy in 2023. We have members from all over the world, and of all ages, hearing and vision levels, and are a welcoming and safe space for Our #LGBTQIA and #neurodiverse friends. Our general community guidelines, and the links to reach our platforms can be found on our website.
I rrun a service here in Delhi India which provides travel companions to the visually impaired travelers for their essential and recreational visits. I wanted to know how is it like in other countries, or any thoughts / reflections you may have about the concept which I could incorporate.

I've made a Playstation DualSense controller tester with #Claude #code using #Tauri and #Rust. After some initial hiccups that I was sure we'd have, because Claude did report it couldn't 100% determine what bits in the datastream corresponded to what piece of information; however, it's now working well. It's also #accessible to screen reader users.
You get connection status, battery status, data values for the sticks, triggers, touch pad and buttons, and three haptic tests. There are tones that pan for X axis movement and change pitch for Y axis movement across both sticks. They are distinct enough to be able to tell which stick is being moved. There are also tones for the triggers, each of which is panned in the appropriate direction. Similarly, the touchpad makes a sound when moved. I'm testing the battery reporting. It reads 10% as of now, and does report charging status. I'm curious if it will actually report accurately.
I had previously given up on getting Ai to write Rust code that actually compiles, because until now, I'd had no success with it. This not only works, it works reasonably well. With me having a grant total of zero Rust knowledge, I can't really audit the code, but I am curious if it's actually good or not. #blind #programming #vibecoding #accessibility #gaming

as a result of veescribe not being able to act as a user application because of no slash commands, for you #blind fokes in servers that have it, veescribe is now able to do simage (scanimage). what it does? if a person turns it on (must have manage server permission) it will automatically scan any image in a #discord #server . for anyone looking to see the commit, see this note: simage will only be able to scan images in which the bot can view channels.note, you can invite veescribe here: https://discord.com/oauth2/authorize?client_id=1460990962892406906&permissions=0&integration_type=0&scope=bot+applications.commands .

By now it's 50 percent win and 50 percent fail, with AI, every day.
Win: Forgot the name of some sweets and I wrote a prompt: "which sweets are these? Strong mint, they are hard, packed in paper envelope, by touch they seem oval pills. Their name has something to do with fish".
The output returned "fisherman's friend original strong"... Found. Bought.
FAIL: tried to write a story with this plot. Blind girl scared by a stalker who touched her and followed her everywhere. Girl talks to policeman. The description refers to blindness in many ways but, in the end, it says the policeman gives her A PAPER VCARD "if it happens again, calls me".
But if you described the white cane just a dozen words ago!
Then (even at work) someone asks me why I have not tried vibe coding yet. Not with this high failure probability! Not me. Not for my own needs.
I use it, partially rely on it, for moderate needs.

Hey #blind #linux users. Quick question. What is the most accessible linux desktop these days?
Is it still mate, or how are we doing.
Context: I want to try to switch from Windows, and I'm fine spending some time setting things up, but I don't want to have a 30 min debug session every time I want to use my computer
Talking about accessibility, Trunk is the worst fediverse client. Blind users avoid it like death - unless you want to fill their resources whatever they are, of feedbacks.
Just to be precise: my purpose is not to humiliate anyone, but to remind the world, we exist. If we stay sitting by ourselves and complain in our comfort zone only, we obtain nothing.

#AskFedi: What are the best #Linux distros for the Blind and low-vision people of any tech level?
What are the options for a blind install or preinstalls that have functional screen readers?
(I know the options aren't great, some assistive features are disappearing without explanation, but I want to believe there's something worth suggesting for this year.)
Damn, just last year, @phanpy accessibility was very poor. I'm currently testing the YunoHost version of the client developed by @cheeaun and it wonderfully works, it's so much improved! #phanpy #social #fediverse #accessibility #blind
UPDATE: mullvad VPN seems very, very, very accessible on Windows as well. Going to read guides soon. Changed VPN as well: deleted NordVPN, joined Mullvad. I love the philosophy of that service: you pay what you use without giving too many personal data; nord vpn took my underwear as well if I let it go. And accessibility wasn't good on PC. Now I'll see if Mullvad is accessible via desktop but on my phone it works good. Very good. #accessibility #alternatives #blind #software #vpn
