Make no mistake. The Kansas law is going to be a model for other states just like the "Don't Say Gay" law went to other states. Just like the districts Gerrymandered districts along political lines were used to further disenfranchise BIPOC. Just like the "ID verification" laws for porn on the internet have become models. Some of these things have even become models for other countries.
We need cis people to stand up and fight for us.

I used to live in Kansas, in the Kansas City metro area. The city itself is lovely. Diverse-ish, tolerant, friendly, progressive. But it resides in the deep red state of Kansas. Just as Austin (and Dallas-Fort Worth) is a relatively progressive metro in a red state, Kansas City is subject to the awful whims of a christofascist and bigoted legislature and attorney general.
The news that trans Kansans will have their drivers’ licenses revoked IMMEDIATELY—without a grace period—is persecution, erasure, and criminalization of one’s existence. My heart is breaking for the victims of this open persecution. All my “christian” friends in Kansas who voted for the villainous characters in this legislature should be ashamed of themselves. YOU are the persecutors.

#Trans folx in #Kansas given 1 day to surrender their (now invalid) IDs and driver's licenses to the state. As of tomorrow (Thursday), driving while trans is a class-B misdemeanor ($1000 fine and up to 6 months in jail).
The zero-grace-period execution means driving to turn in your license is a crime.
Oh yeah, this bill also enacted a bathroom bounty program allowing private individuals to sue trans folx for using the restroom.
