Landing on Mars - Jezero Crater - NASA Perseverance Rover

Full size image: https://flic.kr/p/2oA8d1p

If you view the image in a 16:9 aspect ratio, I recommend opening it as it's much larger in size.

The image has been colourised using the awesome mosaic processed by

In this image we can see the landing of Nasa Perseverance from the perspective of the rover. The heat shield was already released and it's visible at the centre of the image. In the background the rim of the Jezero Crater and its delta (including the recent visited Belva Crater). Colours are from the dark of the more external atmosphere layers to the rusty red of the red planet surface.

This is what landing on Mars looked like from the perspective of the Perseverance rover at roughly 10km above the surface. Andrea Luck also made a colorized version of this image flic.kr/p/2oA8d1p The image is a mosaic assembled from 10 images taken by the Lander Vision System Camera. It was used to optically track the position of the rover and guide it to a safe landing site. The processed image has a wide FOV of 135° x 145°. Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/Simeon Schmauß
