By now I've been listening to https://theindiebeat.fm/ for a week or so. They're streaming music from artists across the Fediverse.

All human-made, no slop. I found some interesting tunes, and have generally been wonderfully entertained. Highly recommended!

Thanks @mizkirsten and everyone else behind this great project!

Just to be constructive: I recommend looking into GNU Taler. Despite aversion against all things *coins we still need an independent payment platform and GNU Taler might be the least bitter pill.

Actually it seems to be OK, but this is another discussion. Anything decentral, but certainly not Stripe, should be good for a project that wants to *pay* artists and not only use their music.

D) I really beg fedi people to better analyze what they would like to post and boost.

Just because some project has "federated" printed on the marketing material it does not mean there is anything fundamentally helpful inside.

Too many freeriders just try to be "first" with questionable or even old school approaches.

First check, then post.

Thanks for your attention on this issue.

In the 8 days you appear to have been on Mastodon, you've spent the majority of your time criticizing people who are out here actually doing something.

You might want to consider that nobody gives a damn what you think, given that you've spent no time in this community before telling us how we should be doing things.

As a result, I'm blocking you. Good luck. I hope you figure out a better way to interact.

C) The Bandwagon platform already is planning to squeeze money out of artists instead with a "premium" version of its service.

Can this be called "planned enshitification"?

Artist nowadays have many "platforms" and "services" that are trying to make money with their music, where is the "fedi progress" here?

B) I see that the linked Bandwagon project seems to be a kind of website generator for musicians that seems to work with STRIPE as a payment platform.

How is that any win for an artist?

STRIPE is a centralized US based company, I do not see how using that contributes to the federated idea.

This is a nice aggregator of music, however, as I like the apoproach of the fediverse to offer alternatives that are better, I am asking you:

A) Why is there no way to PAY the artists?

There are already many websites that just "use" music by artists, what we need is some kind of decentralized micro-payment to bring financial freedom to artists, not only free music to consumers.

There is a way to pay the artists. I guess you missed it. Each track is accompanied by a QR code that will take you to the artist's preferred support location.

TIBR is 100% opt-in. No one is there who doesn't want to be. Its mission is to increase discovery and therefore support of artists.

Read our About page to understand us better.

@slothrop @mizkirsten I wish it were possible to get stations like this into https://apps.gnome.org/Shortwave/ with radio-browser.info still locked down after six months.
