I am not sure about blocked. The account is new, no controversial content whatsoever. Too, I do follow accounts from mastodon.social. I had an account there before. When I imported the list of following, there was no problem. I just cannot add more.

I am not very familiar with the technicalities of the Fediverse or Mastodon such as how (via 'forks', it seems, they connect with each other)

Not being able to interact with mastodon.social accounts is not a problem with me.

But, I do like the idea of the Fediverse (to the degree I understand it). Above all, I am curious.

Personally, I had no problems at all with mastodon.social while there, I transferred when the 500 character limit became too small for me.

However, I do pick up that some feel that convenience, flexibility, and generally change don't seem to be at the forefront of its priorities. When during my time there the CEO stepped down, he wrote he didn't want to get into the way of his own creation.

Maybe its like with this African proverb: If you want to walk fast, walk alone. If you want to walk far, walk with others.
