"It's a shift towards a world without rules, where #InternationalLaw is trampled underfoot & where the only #law that seems to matter is that of the strongest, & imperial ambitions are resurfacing,” #Macron said.

"Cooperation gives way to relentless competition," Macron said.
"Competition from the #UnitedStates of America through #trade agreements that undermine our export interests, demand maximum concessions, & openly aim to weaken & subordinate #Europe. Combined with an endless accumulation of new tariffs that are fundamentally unacceptable, even more so when they are used as leverage against territorial #sovereignty."
" #France & #Europe must defend an effective multilateralism because it serves our interests, & those of all who refuse to submit to the rule of #force," #Macron said.
He added that Europe must respond to the challenge of low growth.
"We all have to deliver our own agenda. This includes American overconsumption, Chinese underconsumption & overinvestment, & European underinvestment & lack of competitiveness," he said.

He called for more Chinese foreign direct investment in #Europe "in some key sectors to contribute to our growth, to transfer some technologies".
