My old retired downstairs neighbour put a glass of bird food in front of my door for me to find it.

Which was initially a wonderful and kind gesture has me now agonizing about how and when or if I should thank her. We see each other maybe once every 3 or 4 months because out lives simply have too different schedules.

Do I dress properly just to hop two floors down or do I do it in my baggy home clothes? Do I pretend to leave the house and happen to walk by because there's the definite danger that she invites me in and I don't do thing like ~that? Argh, why is this so hard.

@DrJLecter Leave a small thank you gift, like a piece of cake or chcolate, in front of her door. No risk of an encounter, and she gets the message that you noticed and appreciated the gesture.

@Natteheks @DrJLecter Yes, I came here to say that. Or perhaps just a thank-you card (possibly with birds on it)

@irina @Natteheks thank you both! That would have been my plan B is plan A failed. 😂 💜
I just came back from plan A. Managed to trick my brain into going! I'm collecting bottles and yars for recycling for months now and my office was overflowing with them by now, but I always missed the last push to get me to finally bring them to the recycling station. But now, using it as an excuse to ring my neighbour's doorbell looking way too busy and on my way out worked wonders. Got two difficult things done at once, yay me 😂🥳
