Top admin ofcls have told Schumer in recent weeks that the money would be released if he agreed to name the facilities in Trump’s honor, acc/to 4 people familiar with the private conversations.

i think renaming the tunnel "TACO tunnel" and renaming Penn Station to "Obama Nobel Peace Prize Station" would be a perfect response.
@Nonilex - The day that Trump dies (and that can't come a moment too soon), there is going to be a spree of removing any "Trump" name wherever he has managed to insert it. With any luck his legacy will be that he and his regime are erased from the collective memories of the world as soon as possible - only allowing that we must NEVER permit his like again (but of course we will 'cos we love authoritarian monsters and former TV and film "stars").

Beyond the #KennedyCenter, #Trump & his allies have stamped his name on the US Institute of Peace & public-facing federal projects like investment accounts for American children & TrumpRx, a website that supposedly will help Americans buy medication directly from drugmakers. [He also added his name randomly throughout the State Department building.]
But withholding money from the tunnel over the names of #PennStation, the busiest train station in the country, would be a significant escalation of the effort to ensure #Trump’s “legacy”, tying it to a project that would have massive ripple effects across the East Coast.
The project, known as #Gateway, sits at the heart of the Northeast Corridor #rail route that runs from Boston to Washington & is the most-used passenger line in the #US.

It includes the construction of a new two-track tunnel connecting #NewYork & #NewJersey, which are linked by 116-year-old tunnels in such poor condition that #trains are often delayed, creating a bottleneck.
