Canadians In The #Fediverse ... whomst among us has registered a federal non-profit/not-for-profit (I can never remember which is which...) for a small technology op?
I'm looking for a way to be my own fiscal host without putting my personal bank account or home equity on the line. I'm a member and sometime director of a few NFPs but have never made one from scratch. ISED Canada basics are pretty straightforward, but what else has been done? By whom?

@johannab I recommend finding a paralegal to make sure you're on the right track. Can be a bit of a headache otherwise if you mess up.
You need a board of directors, ideally someone who knows how to run a board.
@mayintoronto Indeed! I'm looking into both at this point and still trying to figure out which pieces go in which jigsaw puzzle. I've got experience being ON Boards, and revising out-of-date governance docs and such, so I do know the shape of things from having taken on volunteer roles.
Just need to figure out the direction that best suits where I want this to go (with me or without me ... eventually having an income personally is a goal right now too, and it might mesh, or might interfere)
