@vicgrinberg
It's validating (and terrifying) to hear this from the inside.
As an independent researcher, I see the 'fucked' part in how the system filters out non-standard approaches before they even reach the discussion stage.
If senior people are saying it out loud at Lorentz Workshops, maybe we are closer to a tipping point than we think. Thanks for sharing.
@vicgrinberg speaking as someone who *wins countries most prestigious post-grad grant* to do a PhD which results in getting screwed by people and orgs I'd worked with for years, thereby sinking an entire career...
...yes.
@vicgrinberg
Here as someone from an entirely different field: I second that! :(
@GeorgKrammer yeah, it's definitely not field specific...
@vicgrinberg what was the context?
@P__X the above listed conference.
@vicgrinberg in that reference system my question referred to the sub context.
Interesting declaration; I'm curious as to how we can change this for the better.
Asking as someone returning to academia: for now I'm just reading psychology books out loud to make an audio book for someone, and learning a lot.
I'd like to do far more to aid the study and dissemination of pretty much all subjects, STEM ones especially. Thoughts welcome :)
@vicgrinberg Yep, get the same message from every level by people working inside it.
