@ozoned always happy to boost toot-ups! i'd consider going, but i'll be at hopscotch music fest that day/night. :)
@autumn@triangletoot.party well I hope you have TONS of fun there. I also hope we can meet up sometime soon! 😄
Did a fun podcast interview with @ozoned yesterday to run through the installation and setup of a new #PieFed instance.
It all went pretty well, thankfully!

This episode:
PieFed
A Lemmy/Mbin alternative written in Python with Flask.
Clean, simple code that is easy to understand and contribute to. No fancy design patterns or algorithms.
Easy setup, easy to manage - few dependencies and extra software required.
AGPL.
First class moderation tools.
Project goals
To build a federated discussion and link aggregation platform, similar to Reddit, Lemmy, Mbin interoperable with as much of the fediverse as possible.
Fifty three years ago I started the day as a child and ended it as a mom. This was the first photo of me and my daughter. We both still had our hospital bracelet on.
The hospital where she delivered never even gave me a room. I was left in a hallway and discharged about eight hours after I arrived. As an unwed mother I didn't warrant a red carpet welcome. I paid them $250 and went home to the room I rented in an old Victorian house. Obviously there were holes in the wallpaper but we were warm and safe and we were living within our means. I was fourteen years old and ninety eight pounds.
I'm sharing my story because it shows all good things are possible.
My daughter turned into the best kind of human.
It wasn't easy but I have zero regrets.
True grit was never personified by John Wayne types but by regular people surviving against the odds.
Disappointing the doubters was sweet consolation.
She gave me the gift of grandkids too.
I've had a good life.
So far.
Update: inspired by @thisislieven I tweaked the design and used an actual "O" behind the Fediverse symbol... So that people wouldn't confuse the word with "HAPE" or "HYPE".
I've ordered a tee in blue and another in red. I hope they turn out ok! 😅
@_elena@mastodon.social @thisislieven@c.im I love this. Is there a way to make it stand out more on the white? What if the O shifted colors of the points touching it?

Dear #fediverse friends, I HAVE SUCH AN EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT!!
🥳🥳 Per Oct 1st, I'll be starting as Head of GovTech at the best #opensource company: @openproject 🥳🥳
And best of all, it's a 100% remote role, SO I'LL FINALLY GET TO MOVE ABROAD 😭🌞
It's bittersweet leaving @BZKopensource . I've had a great time there with @bo , @PeterGiskes , @marlenabcn , @johan , @manfredzielinski , @tomootes and many others. Fortunately we'll still see each other at conferences ❤️

@Gina@fosstodon.org congratulations!
FediCon/FOSSY 2026 Live Thread
Just found out about #fediverse #radio radio.eldritch.cafe/ .
And a new #app from @apps@toot.fedilab.app , the #Fedilab creator, #fediHood fedihood.social/home
@johannab@cosocial.ca what are we supposed to update them to? Is this a thing? Idk how to social network!
Learned a lot of great things at #FOSSY
First and foremost, us #fediverse folks NEED to have a Fediverse primer for a session. Fossy is more focused on general FOSS and a LOT of folks there didn't know what the Fediverse was or how to use it. Hoping to start work on a "The Fediverse Is..." presentation that I can hopefully give next year.
The amazing @benpate@mastodon.social suggested us having a Fedi related booth. We can help folks onboard with QR codes, answer questions, have starter packs, etc.
And thank you to @karen@floss.social for excellent advice on presenting and speaking.
It was an incredible time and I recommend everyone go next year and donate to sfconservancy.org/sustainer/
Not certain if I can go next year yet, but I'll remain hopeful.
Finally home and updated my #bonfire ehich appears to be happy again, so I can see messages and things.
I had such an amazing time at #FOSSY and I'm excited for the future of #fediverse .
Loius Rossman is doing a "Own Your Sh*t" tour and he's coming to Raleigh and Steve from Gamers Nexus will be there. I already got a free ticket. It'd be awesome to have an open social web group to push for "Own Your Socials" as well.
