@marcusxms@friendica.dk Oh, absolutely agree. And thanks for suggesting. 😄
@ozoned It's not sending verification emails. I have mentioned it to them a while ago
@ikklegemzuniverseplus@ohai.social Are you sure your mail is set right? When I do an invite link, click it, and email is working there for me.
Or are you referring to a different email process?
The initial invite email works though. Email is a frustrating thing to set up though, I had many issues. Not Bonfire related.
@berkel614@mastodon.social Well they have a space in Matrix if you're on there.
@marcusxms@friendica.dk totally understand this. I begrudginly made a Github acct a while ago to interact with projects. It solves problems though for a lot of folks. I wouldn't start my projects there, but I'm also a self-hoster that runs my own git. But I'm also not heads down trying to create the next open social network app. 😁 lol
@ozoned I need them to fix the email issue before I can use it.
@ikklegemzuniverseplus@ohai.social What email issue is that?
@berkel614@mastodon.social Thank you! Don't forget to go let them know on Git. 😁 And any other suggestions you have.
@jrossstocholm@mstdn.dk oh agreed. I'm dog fooding Bonfire Social, because I want to use Bonfire to help communities build their own socials. Looking forward to more flavors/spins. It's shaping up to be a SOLID base atm though.
@badnetmask@hachyderm.io Agreed. Guess the question is though, will they become Firefox and wholly dependent on it? 😡 That is definitely a concern. But I think Wikipedia might be a better position? I hope.
I've been giving lots of feedback to the @Bonfire@bonfire.cafe guys. They're taking things up SUPER fast. It's been absolutely incredible.
I recommend folks try out Bonfire, because it's honestly shaping up to be the one stop shop platform for social networking, consuming news, eventually handling calendar events, etc.
They just let me know about the new Git they just put up about Bonfire Widget suggestions. What would YOU want to see in Bonfire?
They know what they did
@ricci@discuss.systems was it MAGIC?
Saw the news about Wikipedia signing a deal with AI companies. I know a lot of folks aren't happy about this, but I look at this in a few ways.
- They're going to scrape the data anyway, so the least you can do is make money from it.
- The money going into Wikipedia will allow them to be sustainable for years to come.
- We know that wikipedia has worked hard to moderate and curate their information. So would we rather have AI believing blatant lies or pulling from sources that we trust and can verify?
I'm not going to approve or disprove of them as I don't know the real details behind the deal, but this is how I see it.

@BTFree your message says "move to Twitch". You should probably edit if you don't want people getting the wrong idea about your intentions.
@siv@mastodon.praxis.red editted. Good suggestion. TY.
@collectifission@greennuclear.online @david42@mastodon.online
I meant FROM Twitch. What tools do people use on Twitch that don't exist in the Fediverse?
@BTFree Twitch *is* Big Tech. Why would I want to help migrate people to it?!
@siv@mastodon.praxis.red I meant FROM Twitch. What tools do people use on Twitch that don't exist in the Fediverse?
@badnetmask @ozoned when you're invited to do a TEDx talk or TED talk they assign you a professional speaker coach. That's what they did for me. She wrote the book on TED talks https://catheyarmillas.com/ and my talk is at https://www.hanselman.com/
@shanselman@hachyderm.io @badnetmask@hachyderm.io how do you get invited? I've put in a form indicating I'm interested. But I'm guessing it's kind of a lottery or something that just grabs them from your proposal.
@elettrona@poliversity.it I am so sorry for your loss. THat sounds like an amazing person.
@elettrona@poliversity.it How did you get your foot in the door to do a talk? Did you just sign up and fill out a form and they picked you?
@ozoned I know a few people who have done TEDx talks… and one who did a TEDTalk… but we lost contact. From discussions we had, if I remember correctly, once a speaker gets the green light, the TED organization trains them (for months even!) about how to do a presentation.
In terms of topics that interest them, the people I knew who got selected had of course merit but also somewhat knew organizers or had someone in their network helping them - it may be about who you know
@elena@aseachange.com I have no merit and IDK anyone. lol but I'm going to try at least. 😁
