I also apologize to @zzepposs@chaos.social for missing their incredible donation as well during the livestream the other day! We're still working on alerts for donations, so I totally missed it.
Thnak you SO much for supporting me, @BTFree and Fireside Fedi.
And to @evan@cosocial.ca , folks LOVED the mustache. So another vote for that. 😊
Thank you so much to @naj@posteo.de for the generous donation during the livestream on Wednesay. I completely missed and I really apologize. Hoping to get audio alerts and things set up someday!
Thank you so much Squirrel for supporting @BTFree and Fireside Fedi! <3
@firesidefedi Congratulations for the 90th! The people you have interviewed by now is awesome, but I'm having some trouble finding the full list, where is it?
I was thinking of suggesting a couple potential interviewees, but wanted to check first because I haven't listened to all of the episodes and maybe they've already been there... Seems like everybody's been there! 😁
Great job, man, really appreciate it.
@jandi@mastodon.social thank you so much!
You can find all the videos here: tubefree.org/c/firesidefedi/...
I have a playlist here, but I need to update it to include the latest folks: tubefree.org/my-library/vide...
If you're on Matrix, I have a matrix space folks recommend future guests. I also started a shared doc for folks to suggest people, though I haven't had anyone use it yet. Probably because I forgot about it. Lol.
Or just message here and @ the person so they know folks are interested as well and I'm not just soom random person asking. 😁
Really appreciate the kind words. It means more to me than just number go up. 😄 Started this to talk with folks, so it seriously means a lot to me.
@ozoned Ummm, are you me? I'm also a recovering Catholic, latch-key kid that loved STNG. And yes, I often look to Picard as the leader I strive to be. Which makes me think of this account @PicardTips
@Xavier@infosec.exchange lol born in the '80's? 1980 for me. Maybe we're twins. If so, I'm so sorry. 😁
Just watched Star Trek TNG S3E10 The Defector. Love that Trek. Picard the strategist, but also doing eventing he can to prevent bloodshed.
I was a latch key kid. Never religious though I was raised Catholic. I've been told by friends, some very religious, that I have very strong moral code. I honestly often wonder if it was TNG that helped me build those beliefs. Not like I had anyone, but the crew of the Enterprise around to teach me. 😁
I LOVE Mark Rober ❤️
His Squirrel Olympics are sheer genius 👏👏👏👏👏
@TCMuffin@toot.wales he's incredible. Teaching science in such a fun and interesting way. But also showing that he's not perfect and has to iterate to get things right.
Just watched Mark Rober's #TED talk on engaging science in the classroom.
He's created Class Crunchlabs to engage students and make a teacher's job easier. All classes are FREE forever.

@ozoned I think that gets forgotten quickly in fandoms where there is a large body of work. For example, huge fan of most of Star Trek.
@fuzzface@epsilon-ix.masto.host I'm a big Trekkie. Grew up watching reruns of TOS and watched TNG as a kid when it released. Rewatching as an adult.
@ozoned Ponyo is lovely too. And it has the world's most competent 5 year old as a main character 😆
@quadrivial@beige.party my kids might enjoy it then as well.
@ozoned You can be a huge fan and not love everything an artist produces.
@fuzzface@epsilon-ix.masto.host excellent point! Never thought if it that way. 😄 tY!
Yup. Still missing the mark with Young Frankenstein.
@ozoned @Mrfunkedude
my favourites are: Nausicaa for its evergreen story, Pom Poko for its whimsicality, Princess Mononoke for its passion and nature themes, and Porco Rosso for its wits.
@argonaut@mastodon.social I'm only familiar with Nausica and Monoke. I'll check out the others as well tY!
@ozoned Oh I have had this problem with many classics! Often when a movie becomes too influential the references have introduced me to all the great parts before I see them, and it turns my experience of the movie into a mash up of all the movies that come after it!
It's like listening to the Beatles but only after you have gone to see every band inspired by them. Sure it's good, but there is nothing that makes it feel original anymore.
@theeclecticdyslexic@mstdn.social yeah I think this is exactly it. I've watched a LOT of movies and I think you've named it exactly.
@ozoned I never quite got into it either. However, last I saw it I was a teenager. I watched some of samurai jack first when I was a teenager and couldn't stand how slow it was, love that series now.
@theeclecticdyslexic@mstdn.social yeah, young Frankenstein has all the right pieces, but it just never came together for me. Part way through now and I see the genius, but it still just isn't hitting the right spot. I want to love it. I think because I've seen other Mel Brooks movies first the jokes I already know.
@splendorr@mastodon.social tY! Excited to watch.
