I've had the same free email for exactly 20-years, but over the last year it's become manipulative and intrusive while increasingly failing to filter spam.

My entire online life is linked to this email, now it might go sideways.

Are there proven, dependable, and hopefully free, services that do better, or is this a universal problem?

I don't want to bounce from one to another, constantly having to update sites. I'm also desperate to keep expenses down.

I did see a few but these ones are fairly strange. Maybe they are native to #California ????

Spent a good part of this morning being mesmerized by the waves.

There was a High Surf Advisory for breaking waves of 17 to 22 feet with an increased risk for sneaker waves and rip currents — so I knew it was going to be good day for wave-watching.

Good day!

I call it the “valley effect” or “city effect” the fact that it’s often clear here, but in the mountains a short distance away, it’s drastically different.

Thus, when I hike nearby, the weather is continually changing, my pictures seemingly different days.

Good morning and happy #SlackerdaySaturday. It's good to be back here and back home.

My mom passed away on Tuesday and I am thankful that I could be there with her. She was 98 and had a good long life. I grieve for losing her, but she was ready.

We'll be heading back up to NJ for her memorial service in the beginning of March. In the meantime, there are lots of details to attend to that will keep me busy. In a lot of ways that's a blessing.

I am largely content with how #today unfolded.

I felt some dis-ease, pain in my shoulders and a couple of tense $dayjob topics. One of the two resolved well, the other will likely need some more discussion next week.

I didn't read or write as I had hoped but my weekend is here and starts with back to back watch parties.

Stepping out the front door and seeing snow still covering the ground here in Virginia. It feels surreal—quiet, bright, and almost borrowed from somewhere farther north.

Thinking about Dad as this storm moved through. He passed while it was still underway. Being from Michigan, snow never surprised him—but Virginia snow usually disappears so quickly that he was always a little amused by it.

Except this time it didn’t. Nearly two weeks later, the snow is still here, the cold holding on. It feels like a pause that fits these days. And it brings a quiet awareness that I’m now between two homes—Michigan and Virginia—and neither quite feels like home without Dad. Still, I know I need to find my way forward here, to build a new sense of comfort in Virginia, carrying him with me in spirit.

1. It’s snowing here in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and there’s still snow on the ground.

2. Thankful for an all-wheel drive to get through the snow to the closed gate to the Blue Ridge Parkway.

3. Though I couldn’t go further up the Parkway with the camera, I was happy with the view of the sign and the snow falling.

A new day. A new chance to succeed.

A quiet day planned, but I don't put much faith in plans.

Things have a way of happening.

Not that I don't have things I want to get done, but I have a minor case of nope this morning.

Maybe just mental jujitsu. By planning to do nothing much, anything extra I accomplish feels, well, extra.

Or maybe I'll just let the day unfold at its own pace and see what develops.
